SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS (2012/01/24)
- (2012/01/24) HARP AUDITIONS The 2012 All-State Orchestra will need a harp for this year's program. I am therefore starting the harp search. If you have any high school age harpists that may be interested in auditioning, please contact me right away at LVaillancourt@nya.org. Students will be required to play the Mussorgsky "Night on Bald Mountain" harp part for their audition. I will send the part to prospective auditionees. I will determine the date and location of the audition once I have a better idea of who is interested. Please respond to me by Friday, February 3 if you have interested students.
- (2011/10/18) SOUTHERN AUDITIONS STIE CHANGE It has been brought to our attention that the Southern Site Auditions will be at Kennebunk ELEMENTARY School, not the High School.
- (2011/10/04) ORCHESTRAL EXCERPTS NOW AVAILABLE Scroll down to the "PREPARATION FOR AUDITIONS" section and click on your string instrument to being up the Orchestral Excerpt required to be played at your audition.
- (2011/10/03) DISTRICT 3 MIDDLE SCHOOL SIGN-UPS NOW AVAILABLE As of Monday morning the 3rd you should now see a button named "2011-2012 District 3 MS Auditions" in your account if you are a Teacher or Supervisor for a school which participates in District 3 Festival. You will be pleased to know that this year you do not need to "double up" and can register students through your own elementary/middle/central school. Click this button to go to the screen where you can quickly and easily add/drop students to/from the List to be scheduled for an Audition. The "participating schools" were determined by using the list of those schools which signed up for District 3 Auditions last year. If you do NOT see this button and you want to have students from your school audition, please let me know your name and school ASAP (LBean@AllStateAuditions.com) and I will add your school to the list of participating schools. I tried hard to identify all the schools which participated last year, but I may have missed someone.
- (2011/09/30) ALL-STATE (BOC) SIGN-UPS NOW AVAILABLE As of Friday morning the 30th you should now see a button named "2011-2012 All-State (BOC) Auditions" in your account if you are a Teacher or Supervisor for a school which participates in All-State Festival. Click this button to go to the screen where you can quickly and easily add/drop students to/from the List to be scheduled for an Audition. The "participating schools" were determined by using the list of those schools which signed up for All-State Auditions last year. If you do NOT see this button and you want to have students from your school audition, please let me know your name and school ASAP (LBean@AllStateAuditions.com) and I will add your school to the list of participating schools. Sign-ups for District 3 MS auditions should be on-line by Monday
- (2011/09/28) DISTRICT 2 SIGN-UPS NOW AVAILABLE As of Wednesday morning the 28th you should now see a button named "2011-2012 District 2 Auditions" in your account if you are a Teacher or Supervisor for a school which participates in District 2 Festival. Click this button to go to the screen where you can quickly and easily add/drop students to/from the List to be scheduled for an Audition. The "participating schools" were added by trying to locate and identify every Middle School and High School in District 2 SAUs. I'm SURE I missed some, and possibly added a couple that do not participate. If you do NOT see this button and you want to have students from your school audition, please let me know your name and school ASAP (LBean@AllStateAuditions.com) and I will add your school to the list of participating schools. If you have a District 2 button and do not need it, please also let me know. Sign-ups for All-State and District 3 MS will follow very soon!

Click this button to go to the screen where you can quickly and easily add/drop students to/from the List to be scheduled for an Audition. The "participating schools" were determined by using the list of those schools which signed up for District 3 Auditions last year. If you do NOT see this button and you want to have students from your school audition, please let me know your name and school ASAP (LBean@AllStateAuditions.com) and I will add your school to the list of participating schools.   Additionally, there is now a new button on your Auditions List page that will allow you to print a summary of the students signed up to double-check you have all the students you're supposed to and also to use as an Invoice for a PO. I am waiting to hear what the fee is for Jazz All-State Auditions, so it will show "zero" for the moment. I will update that the moment I hear what the fee is.

- (2011/09/14) CHANGES IN MY SCHOOL AND AUDITION FEE
  
  First, please be aware that I received an email from Heidi Anderson informing me that the MMEA BOARD has increased the All-State Auditions Fee to $22 for this year.
  
  Second, I am still in the midst of play-testing and trouble-shooting modules for the new All-State Auditions 2.0 interface. The summer was a huge transition and learning curve, moving the entire operation from the old server and FileMakerPro which kept locking up, crashing, and becoming otherwise unresponsive, to Apple Snow Leopard Server, MySQL, and PHP. As of 4:00pm Wednesday September 14th you should be able to log into your account, update your contact information, and add/delete/change students in your school(s). Please let me know of any difficulties you encounter (LBean@AllStateAuditions.com) and I will work to remedy them as soon as possible. I plan to have the rest of the bugs worked out with Audition Signups by Monday, September 19th, and will post a note here and also on the front page by the account sign-in as soon as it is up and running. In the meantime, the most effective thing you can do is to update the list of students in your school so you have the kids you expect to be auditioning already listed. Then it will be a simple matter of assigning students to audition sites once that part is active.
  
  Aside from some cosmetic changes on the front and LOTS of new stuff on the back end, the biggest functional change is that there is no longer a "one account per school system" limit. You may now change your username and password to whatever you want and the account belongs to you. Other teachers in your school system may request their own accounts for managing students and auditions. There still needs to be one person designated the "Supervisor" for your school system. This is not a technical limitation, but rather a functional requirement that there be one point of contact who is the "last word" when it comes to auditions. One of the most exciting things about the new system is that it will allow virtually unlimited flexibility, something sorely lacking in FileMaker. Please feel free to forward "enhancement ideas" for me to put in the hopper as to the look, feel, and workflow of the site. For this cycle the focus will be on functionality; it may not be "pretty" and there may be some things that would make it easier, but it will get the job done in a reliable way. As soon as we successfully complete this cycle, I will begin implementing enhancements for the following cycle. Thank you for your patience as I work to bring everything on-line, and check here and the front page regularly for notes about how things are progressing.
- (2011/06/06) CHANGE IN SOUTHERN SITE
  The fall 2011 All-State Audition site will be KENNEBUNK HS. We are currently accepting requests to have your "assigned site" shifted from Southern to Central, and from Southern or Central to Northern. If you request this change now, you will receive the same priority-based scheduling as the other schools assigned to the site. If you wait and request a change in the fall, you will be considered an "add-on" and will be put at the end once the basic schedule is built. We will grant site-shift requests on a first-come-first-serve basis until, based on past sign-up data, the sites are balanced. Please contact Larry at the email address on the main page to request an official site shift. You may see your currently assigned site below in the section "AUDITION LOCATIONS, DATES, AND SCHEDULES".

Although this is "the definitive list", we always anticipate changes. Our rules state that if requirements change a student may still audition following any previously published requirements without penalty. However, oftentimes the changes are to the student's advantage. Please check back regularly. Changes will be made in RED in the Audition Piece List, and will also be posted above in "Special Announcements".
